LEG STRETCHES

Introduction:

It is common that many people suffer from tight leg muscles, which results due to strain. Mostly it is observed in case of older individuals. As you age, muscles become stiff that leads to strains, tears and injuries in the muscles. The other common cause is sitting for a long time at a place. As your knees are bent, causes tension in the leg muscles from calves to ankle joints. Stretching when it is involved in our everyday activities benefit leg muscles to a greater extent. The following stretches help to loosen tight muscles. While performing stretch muscles, it is better to stretch your calf muscles first, as it is more flexible to stretch than the other muscles.

Calf muscles stretch:

Strand in front of a wall and place your hands on it.

Extend your left foot in front of the wall such that toes pointing towards it.

Now slowly bend your left knee, keeping back and right leg straight.

Place both the heels on the ground.

Move your hips forward until you feel a stretch in your right calf muscle.

Hold the stretch for 15 seconds.

Swap legs and repeat.

Hamstrings stretch:

Sit on the ground with your left leg stretched out.

Bend your right knee such that right foot touches your left thigh.

Lean forward and try to touch your left foot.

Hold the position for 15 seconds.

Swap legs and repeat.

Quadriceps stretch:

Stand up straight on your right leg.

Hold your right foot using right hand.

Keep pulling up your right foot until you feel a stretch.

Hold it for 15 seconds.

Swap legs and repeat.

Benefits:

Stretching helps in lengthening of muscles.

Relieves from pain and soreness in the muscles.

Regular practicing prevent injuries and lower back pains.

Precautions:

If you feel any discomfort, do not stretch your muscles forcibly.

If you decide to do after getting up in the morning, then be careful, because muscles will be tighter at that time.
